The perfume bottle series partly came about as an experiment. I’d never painted with a palette knife before and always fancied doing  a study of an old Chanel No5 bottle I have in my studio.

Everybody loved the result which sold immediately so I began to paint more of the classic perfumes – all empty bottles.

I love trying to capture the irridesence and reflections of the glass, but all the empty perfume bottles tell a story. It is said by some that a bottle of perfume can last a lifetime with the scent triggering…the who…the where…the when…

In the end all that remains are the memories and reflections.
