Martini Racing Car Art – Porsche 936
This artwork is my homage to the Martini Racing Porsche 936.
Martini Porsche 936 Background
This artwork is inspired by one of the most famous Martini Racing Porsches in history – the 1977 Le Mans winning Porsche 936. The Martini Porsche also went on to finish overall 2nd again in1978 and ended up competing at Le Mans as a works entry car on five separate occasions during the years of 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979 and 1981.
The 936 ‘prototype Porsches’ evolved each year that they were re-entered by Porsche for Le Mans, with on-going upgrades and advances being made to both the technical specification.
About the artist
Martin Allen is a London based artist. Martin came to oil painting through a circuitous route, having drawn for most of his life and being largely self-taught he was eventually re-introduced to oil painting as a preferred medium to create his varied and diverse work. The methods he uses to paint are classic ones, using layered paint applications rounded off by oil glazes. These create, add depth and harmonise colours. He has shown solo numerous times at Goodwood, The Affordable Art Fair and others, been a finalist at the ‘London art Biennale 2019’, alongside various commissions including work for the BP Shipping collection.
